AmpGPT – Ways to Engage

Different ways to converse with AmpGPT

AmpGPT can be used in several different ways, depending on what you want to accomplish.

You can simply ask questions, or you can use it for structured learning, coaching practice, and problem solving.

Ask Questions and Explore Ideas

Use AmpGPT conversationally to explore concepts, ask questions, and discuss situations you are facing. The goal is not just answers, but helping you see useful distinctions and insights. A good start is often to tell it about a problem you are having and ask for advice.

Get Guidance on How to Coach Someone In a Particular Situation

Describe a challenge you are facing as a coach, manager, or team member. AmpGPT can help you think through what may be happening and suggest ways to guide the conversation productively. AmpGPT uses Kata Coaching Patterns. You can learn more here.

Practice Coaching Conversations

Role-play difficult conversations. AmpGPT can play the person being coached or demonstrate how an experienced coach might handle the situation. You can learn more about how to do this here.

Diagnose and Solve Real Problems

Describe a problem you are seeing in your organization. AmpGPT will guide you through a structured process to diagnose what may be happening and identify possible experiments to try. You can learn more about how this work here.

Learn Concepts Through Guided Interaction

Ask AmpGPT to teach you something using the Learning Kata. Instead of a lecture, it will guide you through questions and small steps so the ideas become clearer as you explore them. You can learn more about how this work here.

Demonstrate and Strengthen Your Capability

Ask AmpGPT to test your understanding of a concept or topic. It can ask questions, check your responses, and help deepen your understanding through continued interaction.

The above scenarios are intended to work together

There is no true modality here. Each of these are just descriptions of what you can do with AmpGPT.  A common sequence is:

  • discuss a problem you have
  • ask for guidance on how to coach people in solving it
  • role play with AmpGPT to practice how to do that
  • learn more depth about the topic

In other words, there is no right way to interact with AmpGPT. “Talk” to it the way you’re interested. It can respond in surprisingly appropriate way.  The above list is just to give you some ideas.

You can begin with a question like:

  • Our teams keep starting work but not finishing it. What should I look for?
  • “Test my understanding of value streams.”
  • “Help me prepare for a difficult coaching conversation.”

Or simply describe a situation you want to think through.

AmpGPT will guide the conversation from there.

AmpGPT helps you:

  • think through problems
  • practice coaching conversations
  • learn key distinctions
  • develop improvement capability

AmpGPT Team Situations and Interventions Guide

This Team Situations & Intervention Guide is a collection of the most common situations teams encounter when trying to improve how they work—such as work not finishing, constant interruptions, or being blocked by dependencies—along with guidance on how to address them. Instead of providing step-by-step instructions or abstract best practices, it focuses on helping you start from what’s actually happening in your environment. Each situation is paired with proven intervention patterns and the underlying thinking needed to make effective decisions. Used with AmpGPT, the guide becomes interactive—helping you diagnose your specific context, understand what’s driving the issue, and take the next useful step to improve flow, alignment, and outcomes. You can go to it here.

Advanced use of AmpGPT

When you’re ready you can take advantage of some advanced features of AmpGPT. This section shows examples of how you can set up deeper conversations.

As always, this section is to give you ideas on how to use AmpGPT. Don’t feel limited to following these examples.

You can tell AmpGPT your role or context to get more relevant guidance.

Examples:

  • “I’m a Scrum Master dealing with…”
  • “I’m a manager trying to…”
  • “I’m coaching a team that…”
  • “I’m a developer struggling with…”

Common ways to use AmpGPT

Group by intent (not features):

  • Coaching — “Ask me questions and challenge me”
  • Collaborative — “Let’s think through this together”

Example:

“Coach me through this—don’t just give me the answer.”

When you’re not sure what to ask

Don’t feel bad if you get here. Many people do.

If you’re not sure what to ask, start here:

  • “Here’s what’s going on…”
  • “I’m stuck with…”
  • “I don’t know how to…”

Don’t worry about getting it right. AmpGPT won’t tell anyone. 🙂
