Capability Conversation - End-to-End Flow

End-to-End Flow

Enable Effective End-to-End Flow

What this capability means: Attend to how demand, decisions, work, information, value, and feedback move through the whole relevant system, reducing harmful Work in Process, queues, delays, handoffs, switching, and constraint overload.

Working well when...

  1. People can see elapsed time, waiting, constraints, and feedback across boundaries.
  2. Local decisions are assessed against end-to-end stakeholder outcomes.
  3. Work is organized into smaller meaningful value orevidence increments.
  4. Improvements reduce delay without moving the queue or burden elsewhere.

First-pass conversation

  • Where does value, work, information, or a decision wait?
  • Which Work in Process, queue, handoff, or dependency governs elapsed time?
  • What is the current system constraint?
  • Which local measure or practice may worsen the whole flow?
  • What small change would improve value and feedback without moving the problem?

Warning signs to discuss

  • People are busy while work spends most ofits time waiting.
  • Functions or teams optimize localutilization or completion.
  • Queues, handoffs, and dependencies accumulate across boundaries.
  • Improvement speeds one activity while end-to-end time and value remain unchanged.
